Project London, United Kingdom

Frognal Way

A basement development on Britain's seventh most expensive street.

Sector: Buildings

Technical Specifications

Pile Type: CFA piles

Number of Piles: 442no.

Diameter: 600mm

Depth: 22.5m

The Challenge

Franki were required to install piles to support the development of a basement. Due to the affluent location of works, the site and crew had to be considerate of the surrounding neighbours. Franki were required to access site via a private road with time restrictions, therefore the works had to be planned efficiently to avoid disruption.

The ground conditions consisted of well compacted imported chalk, over the Claygate member, over London Clay.

The Solution

Franki Foundations were required to install 442no. 600mm diameter piles forming a water tight secant wall to 22.5m, to enable the development of a triple basement on a new build residential property in Hampstead.

Franki mobilised the Soilmec SR-45 which was well suited to the restricted nature of the site. Franki's in-house design department were able to value engineer the intial design completed by others.
