BESIX Nederland moves to Dordrecht in 2019

As per 2019, BESIX Nederland will move from Barendrecht to Dordrecht. The new Dutch head office will be built at Amstelwijck Businesspark. Designed by RoosRos Architects, it translates the BESIX identity into a discreet, sustainable building with special attention to user well-being.

The new office will measure 1,800m2 and house around 80 employees. The building is planned around a clear and visible structure. The design reflects several activities of BESIX. The trusses, which are the carries of the design and the plan, express the civil engineering side of BESIX's activities.  The imposing glass façade refers to complex (high-rise) buildings, also an important part of BESIX’s activities.

The new office design and layout express the goal of BESIX: to excel in creating sustainable solutions for a better world. The building starts from a freely partitionable, generic framework consisting of four large trusses with empty floor areas between.  A gas-free system and energy-saving and energy-stimulating measures contribute to the building’s sustainability. The result is an office that meets both today's demands and those of tomorrow.

User well-being is an important pillar of the concept. The building promotes employee health and life experience. At its heart is an open, transparent atrium with live greenery, where all functions meet in a light-filled context. Primary functions are all located on a single floor to promote short communication lines, cooperation and encounter. A diversity of work areas encourages flexible working: standing or sitting, concentrated individual work and meeting.

Construction works for the new office building will start in spring of 2018 and about a year later, BESIX Nederland will move into the new building.

Jasper Mos, Dordrecht alderman Finance, Economics and Real Estate: "BESIX is more than welcome in Dordrecht. With more than 14,000 employees worldwide, the company is a major, key player in construction and real estate development but also in the maritime sector. Our city and region are well known for their maritime activities, making Dordrecht an obvious choice for BESIX."

Jeroen Philtjens, Director of BESIX Nederland: 'After an extensive search for a suitable location for the Netherlands head office, BESIX opted for Dordrecht. Its location on the A16 and also close to the N3/A15 makes the Amstelwijck Businesspark an ideal location, easily accessible to our Belgian colleagues, but also perfectly placed on the south side of the Randstad.'

Daan Font Freide, architect at RoosRos: "The design for the new BESIX building features a powerful formal language that expresses the identity of the organization."
